HandMade: The Western North Carolina Craft, Architecture & Design Expo the two-day event invited the public to join artists, architects, builders, and designers to share and learn about successful collaborations between craft artists, homeowners, and industry professionals. Drawing from the tremendous craft resources that are a unique and vital part of Western North Carolina, the event emphasized craftsmanship, architectural elements, and design for both high-end and mid-range home markets.

Have you ever wondered why some homes so clearly reflect the personality of their owners? How do you create a home that looks like it belongs? What makes a home original and unique? Can a home be sustainable and luxurious? Incorporating handmade components in your home can do all these things and more. It's easier than you might think to work with local artists to design and create your own special living environment. It's also good for the local economy and adds meaning and value to your home. When you build a relationship with the artist who builds your dining room table, turns your ceramic sink, or forges an iron handrail, you bring the creativity and personality of that artist into your home; you make it your own.
